if you drop it off, they give you a ticket to bring with you to collect it, i think drop off means you collect it yourself.

From what others have posted before, if you postyour passport to london it can take about 6 weeks to come back to you, were as if you go on a thursday between 2pm and 3pm you can drop off the passport at the london VO and then pick it back up again 2 weeks later. Depends on how quickly you want...
