    Question about Citizenship

Hello all, I am currently a Canadian permanent resident. According to the "Physical Presence Calculator" I'll be eligible to apply for Canadian Citizenship this coming November. I plan on leaving Canada on January 10th 2020 and return to my home country for a while. I'm not sure for how long...

Leaving Canada after submitting application for Citizenship

Thank you. My only concern is the correspondence by mail part. I should be fine though. I have close friends in Toronto who could receive mail on my behalf, as well as a significant other and family members. Also, come this October I would have been on PR status for 2 years so I seem to meet all...

Leaving Canada after submitting application for Citizenship

Hello, I wanted to double check something. As far as I'm aware, you need to be present and living in Canada while you're in the process of applying for your Canadian Citizenship. Once you've gathered all the documents, done the paper work, submitted the form, paid the fees, etc. you're then...

PR living abroad with Canadian Citizen

Hey guys, I was wondering something. This is a hypothetical, but if I was a Canadian Citizen (which I plan to apply for this November) and I moved to the UK, lets say on January 1st 2020. I go to the UK with my girlfriend who just got her Canadian Permanent Residency. We stay in the UK for 2...

    Does time on IEC count?

Hello all, Just wondering something about gaining citizenship. I came to Canada from the UK in June 2015 on the 2 year working holiday visa. I got my Permanent Residency last September. From my understanding, to get citizenship I need to be a Permanent Resident for 3 years in a 5 year period...

    British Drivers License Exchange

Hey. I am just wondering if anyone has exchanged their full British driver's license for an Ontario one. I've been driving for around 8 years and still have my British license. I've lived in Ontario for more than 3 years now and I've decided I'd like to do car rentals occasionally so it's time...

My PR card is taking a long time to arrive

Hey all. I landed in Toronto Pearson international airport on October 6th. I officially became PR then. I expected to get my PR card in the mail within 6 weeks or so but I did not hear anything until December 2nd 2017 saying that my photos got rejected and please send them on again (this was in...

My PR Card Photos got rejected

Hey guys, Feeling super disappointed right now. I landed in Toronto on October 6th and got my CoPR. I was told I'd get my PR status card in around 60 days. Just got an email today saying my photos for the PR card don't meet the requirements. I actually had those photos done at Staples in...

The 2 out of every 5 Years Rule

Hello, Just wanting to clarify my understanding of how the Permanent Residency status works. Please correct me if I am wrong but once you get your PR Status card it is good for 5 years. When you want to renew the card it can only be renewed if you have been in Canada for 2 years out of those 5...

Got COPR and flying back to Toronto on Friday.

Hey guys. So I posted in another thread about 2 weeks ago just saying I got my COPR. I went to Niagara Falls on Wednesday morning after I got it and was rejected twice that day at Rainbow bridge as they had already hit their quota for processing those with PR. So I ended up flying home to...

Got COPR. Tomorrow I am Flagpoling.

I went back around 11.45 and asked an official if they were processing. He said yes. I then went back to the US, came back to Canada and stood in line for around an hour and a half. I got to the guy and he said they aren't processing anymore. They met their quota already again. He told me to...

Here's my update and it is not good I am afraid to say, Got up at 4:45 AM. Got the bus from Toronto to Niagara falls at 6 AM. Arrived in Niagara falls around 7:20 AM. Got a taxi straight to Rainbow bridge. It was easy and quick on the US side, Got a piece of paper after 5 minutes and went back...

Got COPR. Tomorrow I am Flagpoling.

A few people have expressed interest in how things go for me so I will definitely update you all after this is all done. Regarding Rainbow bridge being closed. I didn't know that. I'll look into it more. I know they say that you should only go on Tuesday - Thursday but I didn't hear about them...

Got COPR. Tomorrow I am Flagpoling.

Also seen that if you have a valid job offer then you don't need proof of funds. My old employer in Toronto could create an official document stating that once I have my PR status they will re-hire me. Just wondering if that is an option as well?

Got COPR. Tomorrow I am Flagpoling.

I've been reading that $12,000 is required for proof of funds unless you have qualified under CEC (which is the route I went down). Can anyone confirm if this is true?
