the advice you have received is correct. You need to do your landing at the point of entry but after that you can live where you like. I believe you could even move to Quebec of you wanted to after landing elsewhere in Canada.
Thanks friend. The suspense is killing me! People say you must just go on with your life but it is difficult. I don't want to make any big purchases until I know what is going on.
Upon landing they take down you Canadian address (gives a friend's address if you don't have one). They then post your PR card to that address. I think it takes about 3 weeks to arrive.

2. Yes you can do this but you run the risk that the card may get lost. Without it I don't think you can re-enter Canada.
