I've read that in order to obtain a work permit for semi and low skilled jobs under new rules the one needs to obtain at least 5.5 bands in IELTS. But, I couldn't find that information on any official web site. Does anyone has a link or more information?

I'm outside Canada. If you are from visa exempt country, and probably you are since your embassy is in Vienna, you don't have to apply for a work permit at the embassy, but instead you can apply directly at the port of entry ie. the airport in Canada.

stopDA, nobody can give you an answer. It varies from case to case, also depending about the officer who received the application. My friend is waiting for a normal assessment since end of April, NOC A or B position, Ontario, and that timeline is really ridiculous. I've been waiting for 7 weeks...

It is Open LMO, that's the case. When the employer called them to follow up he was reminded that he has to wait 20 working days. Now more then 30 working days passed, I am confused, probably I'm gonna call them myself and try to find out what is going on and why does it take so long.
