PGWP and Lay off due to COVID19

I hold a 1-year PGWP which is going to be expired in June and I am 7 weeks short from 1 year canadian work experience because I was temporarily laid off due to COVID19 and I applied for EI. I wonder if the period I am receiving EI is considered as my work experience? Or will IRCC let me extend...

Ray of Hope - 141st Draw

They would have announced it if this was the case. Plus, a large number of those under FSW are inlands on PGWP or visitor visas already and they are giving 9 days to prepare the required documents and I suppose they are going to even extend that 90 days period if needed. It is only the...

Oh ok. Thx I think if they are to reconsider the number of invitations they might give fewer for a couple of draws but eventually they have a target to meet and they do need immigrants for the sake of the economy.

I wish It was the same for EI and temporary lay off due to COVID19. It would be fair if they consider this period as work experience too. Working with a PGWP is for way beyond just the money. It is a matter od weeks. I hope they realize that.

Ray of Hope - 141st Draw

Hi. Do you mean there might be a chance that they consider the gap as work experience if explained in a letter? I have worked for 45 weeks. I must work another 7 weeks and my PGWP will be expired in June.

I personally think because of being fair to those who might lose points on age or their IELTS or ECA may expire, they are going to do FSW draws but they are going to start processing the application of those who are going to be invited in 6 months. So it might take a year after getting ITA.

they said it will continue but they did not clarify whether draws will be all program or CEC & PNP only for a while!! Fingers crossed for a FSW only draw or at least an all program one.

this is no good for both current and future applications at all. Stuck at 467 since December with a 1 year PGWP and 7 weeks short from 52 weeks to apply under CEC which would bring my score up to 497. Damn COVID19 !!!
