I am planning to renew my Passport while I am waiting for PR (AOR received May 2nd week). So would the Consulate would give me new Passport with new passport number? If yes, how to inform CIC about this change?

Didn't use application number, client id worked just fine for me.

It takes couple of days after you receive the AOR email.

I am also preparing for BOWP. Would anybody know whether I would need original of my latest work permit for BOWP online application, or may CIC ask for it after I apply?

Got the AOR last week, planning to apply for BOWP. One question though, can I apply for Visa at the same time I apply for BOWP? I am not from Visa exempt countries.
