American to Canada Immigration - Help Needed Figuring This Out

First, congratulations! Are you sure you 100% sure you want to marry? Marriage is a big step and ties you to one another legally and financially in ways that are difficult to undo without spending a lot of resources. You are, after all, 22! Perhaps you'd want to live together a while before...

    Owp query

Just to add, I think the confusion is that once you get your OWP you are considered a 'temporary' resident. You are eligible for a social insurance number. And varying degrees of social benefits depending on the province.

    Owp query

Given your profession, that sounds Iike a good idea. You'll need to see a physician that is panel certified by CIC, and give blood, urine and take an x-ray. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx

How long does it take for the sponsor's portion of the sponsorship application take to get approved?

No AOR for the OWP application. We had to use the applicant's name and birthday (along with passport info, residency as Canada). Every week or so I would try it and eventually it linked. See my signature for our timeline.

    Owp query

We just got OWP. It shows an expiry date, two years from the date they decided to issue the OWP. No PR card with OWP, and I don't think we are considered PR (otherwise please tell that to the Quebec government so we can receive healthcare). I've heard of some other applicants receiving...

How long does it take for the sponsor's portion of the sponsorship application take to get approved?

Applications for open-work permits (OWPs) are processed seperately from the application for permanent residency. The estimated time is four months from the date of submission of the OWP application. Some applicants receive it much sooner, some a little later, but most within four months.

RAMQ Before AIP? (Inland Spousal Sponsorship)

In Quebec. And the standard has changed over time (e.g. for proof that the application is ''en traitment" to requiring AIP) And there are loopholes to the regulation. Which is why I am asking. I've done my due diligence, and I've delt extensively with RAMQ and won appeals before. They have...

RAMQ Before AIP? (Inland Spousal Sponsorship)

I think you misunderstood. It's not the 90 day wait period I am complaining about. It is the ability to sign up to begin the 90 day wait period. I am currently paying $250 / mo for inpatriate insurance, and will continue to do so until 90 days after my spouse can register. The point is that...

RAMQ Before AIP? (Inland Spousal Sponsorship)

Dear members following this thread, I know it has been asked to death, but are there any loopholes to get signed up for the RAMQ and start the 90 day waiting period before receiving AIP or having a full-time six-month contract with a OWP? Last week we received notification online that my...

    Do I have enough evidence?

For a lot of governments one of the principal determinants for judging the legitimacy of a relationship is financial ties. The more you can demonstrate your finances are intertwined, the more credible you will be. Definitely include the bank transfers, anything that indicates shared assets or...

    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

No. There was no point, since they say they send a copy to IRCC. Yes, I know some people claim it is best to also upload a copy, but the letter accompanying the CSQ seemed to make clear that IRCC could request an original copy from applicants. It's not clear to me that uploading a scanned...

    *******July 2018******* Inland Spousal Sponsorship

Barsarah: We don't have OWP yet, but here's my understanding from following the threads on here: 1. The CIC estimates 4 months. Someone else posted a more recent update that suggested the current wait time for OWP is 111 days. From what I've read, the methodology for CIC estimates is not...
