CIC will do the Canadian Police clearance for you, your initial PC is good for a year after receipt by CIC and if they require another one they will let you know.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

You may want to post this message on the CPP-Ottawa thread as well as some applicants start in Ottawa and get re-routed to LA

    Options for Sponsoring

You can apply to extend your visitor visa online. CIC will usually grant a 1 year extension if they know you have applied for PR. Some applicants have extended 2 or 3 times without any problem.

Congratulations on your "decision made" finally. And thanks for your thoughtfulness. Looking at your timeline compared to mine, I should hear something soon, one would think. Best wishes for a speedy conclusion.

Congratulations !I lucky for you, there are some of us who received PPR 3 or 4 months ago or longer and still waiting. Obviously they do not update ECAS for many, makes us wonder why they even have it. Happy Landing

    1. Mississauga approval takes about a month 2. After approval everything goes to Ottawa 3. Processing times 8 to 10 months assuming you have no issues Also depends on the person handling your file. Good luck

    APRIL 2013 Applicants!

Hahaha that's so funny about the complaint from the guy because his wife brought more than 1suitcase. We have a lot of things still in storage in the US since over a year. Starting to get a bit expensive. That's another hidden cost with this PR process which we don't realize at the start. Oh I...

Yes it's possible to go the LMO route, however I understand it's a bit difficult with a low rate of success. But certainly worth a try. Also not all provinces will grant Medical Coverage before the PR is finalized.

    March 2013 Applicant

If you are near the end of the process cic will usually extend the medical automatically, so I doubt if you will get a request to have them redone. Regarding your ECAS information, it's the same as most have until after they finalize everything, so everything seems fairly normal.

Like Chiqsherbet, mine is also a straight forward case. There really seems to be no reason why we should be waiting for more than 4 months since PPR for the COPR. It really seems that some files get put aside due to heavy workloads of the officer handling your case and apparently they are...

Well the answer to the questionnaire is YES of course, so just explain that you live together and how you share the living expenses and that you support her with cash. We did not send any proof of financial support.

    APRIL 2013 Applicants!

Hi NicAnn I guess you saw my recent posts on the CPP - Ottawa thread in reference to the discrepancies for various applicants being processed by Ottawa VO as to the time between PPR and COPR. It's really hard to figure what goes on in that VO. One thing I have learned from this whole process...

I wouldn't think so, why would they have a problem with that? But I have no experience crossing the border frequently, so maybe other applicants who have done so in the past may be able to give you a more informative reply. Good luck with the finalization of you PR application!!

You can only enter Canada as a "visitor" so when you cross the border you can't say you are "moving" here or they may refuse entry. As you are visa except, you can stay for up to 6 months, during which time you cannot work or study here. However before the 6 months expire you ought to have your...

It is interesting to note that some of us who received PPR around the same time have been waiting for 4 months or longer for COPR. Perhaps we have the same VO person working on our files .it's quite puzzling that there's such a big discrepancy in the wait times between PPR and COPR for various...

An "Up Front" Medical is now required to be submitted as part of your application, according to the instructions. They may return your application if it's missing.

What I suspect is that it just depends on the person (Visa Officer) who is handling your file. If for some reason they go on vacation or get sick, no doubt they put your file aside for 30 days or so. Perhaps then when they return they get waylaid catching up on any work backlog. This is just...

It's been 4 months now since we had PPR and nothing has happened. Ecas still shows "application received". So it may take more than 3 months without any apparent reason, and even much longer.
