It's possible they sent your application to LA which would explain the delay. Hopefully not, but its what they did to mine last January 2014 and we are still waiting for finalization. >:(

    Common law partner visiting Canada

If I understand it correctly, Inland applicants have implied status while their application is in process and must not leave Canada during that time, so therefore applying for a visitor extension isn't necessary. Maybe others on here can confirm if this is still the case. I am an Outland...

    Common law partner visiting Canada

I have been living in Canada as a "visitor" since early 2012. I have been back and forth to the USA several times since and have had no issues at the border so far. My application is outland and we are expecting processing to complete soon ( after some frustrating administrative delays). If you...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Well for some folks, as an alternative they may consider selling their vehicle in the USA and buying one in Canada after landing. It appears that the price of vehicles may be cheaper in Canada than in the USA ( at least for the used vehicle market).

    Spousal sponsorship

I have been in Canada living with my sponsor during the processing of my Outland application. There have not been any cons other than I am not permitted to work while waiting and that I had to go to LA for an interview. Of course the big Pro is that we are living and enjoying life together...

I have noticed that generally there is a 60 day wait period after CIC requests additional documents, so they most likely will not look at your file until that time, the "bring forward" date. But remember that with CIC nothing is certain.

Unfortunately for me, my file sat in LA for 6 months collecting dust before they even looked at it, although a few other applicants had a shorter wait. Try to hang in there, but follow up with email enquiries

Spousal Sponsorship Interview Questionaires, Experience, Preparations

Very well stated. I am sure MiriMinBC is very unlikely to be interviewed. And those that do get interviewed have a very high pass rate.

Congrats on passing the interview. It's hard to believe that it will take 4 more months to get medical results when they are sent electronically. It sounds like an excuse to justify a long wait time at LA which is really caused by a lack of people working there. . The processing time at LA is...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

It appears for some reason CIC holds a strong bias against US applicants who are are US green card holders or even US citizens who were not born in the U.S so if you are in that category, in all likelihood your application will be sent to LA for review. But with CIC nothing is certain and often...

They will let you know if they want a new medical exam completed. Usually they will extend your medical expiry if your file has been sent to LA, but you would only know this from the electronic notes. If you haven't received a request for a new medical by now, it's most likely they have extended...

Spousal Sponsorship Interview Questionaires, Experience, Preparations

We both attended the interview and we were less than pleased with the way it was conducted. The officer who interviewed us was an Asian lady who spoke broken English. She seemed unfamiliar with the details of my application and continued to get the facts mixed up. We couldn't get any meaningful...

Most of the questions were about our relationship and my non-accompanying dependant, all the answers which they already had in the file. There were many inane irrelevant questions about my youth in Asia and we were not pleased because she was not treating me as an American citizen but as an...

For me it means a dependent living abroad who will not be accompanying me to Canada at this time. All dependents have to be including in your application , whether they are coming to Canada with you or not. If my application is approved it means the dependent can come to Canada at a later date.

They did not request additional information except a medical extension for a non-accompanying dependent last November. From the latest GCMS notes it appears that they have some minor concerns about the non-accompanying dependent. To us this was not enough to justify such a long delay in...

Having my file transferred to LA has meant a very long delay in processing for me, as you can readily see from my timeline. It took LA 6 months just to look at my file before deciding to interview me which they scheduled for 2 months after that. My file was transferred in January from Ottawa but...

I applied in April 2013. I received PPR in October 2013. My file was transferred to LA in January 2014 where it sat for months gathering dust. In June 2014 someone in LA finally decided to look at my file after which they scheduled an interview for August. This has been a very frustrating...
