    You should talk to your company lawyer. Usually they put together a stack of papers with all that is required (or nice to have). You need to take as many documents as possible, especially the first time. Job offer, degrees, transcripts, I797, etc

    State taxes are usually less. Cars used to be cheaper in the US...now with the current exchange rate, I don't know anymore. Figure out what car you want, check the prices, and go from there. If you can register in the US, it will probably be cheaper. Insurance rates are also cheaper in the US...

    Your best bet is to sign a lease with your husband's friend. You can find lease templates online. Some provinces (like BC) have tenant agreement templates online so it will be super easy. Good luck.
