Hi DVA, I totally sympathize with your situation. If I were you, I would just go to the elbeit centre with a copy of the re-assessment email. Strike the incorrect last name and write the correct last name in blue ink. If they ask then just tell that by mistake NDVO has put incorrect last name...

DVA, time is of essence. I suggest you get your reassessment done with your correct name. Send it. Then deal with NDVO for the name verification. It will take NDVO ages to respond to mail (snail mail) you plan to send. Good luck.

I agree with you that once a sponsor is approved in step 1, he is free to travel. But things get complicated if he travels after "in process". Sometimes NDVO makes it obvious sometimes not. All I am advising is prevention is better than cure. Peace!

Though there are no such laid rules. This is what we have observed in the past. People have tested this in the past and faced the consequence. Some got lucky. Its a decision you will make when you make.

Hi All, Seems like many of us are not clear about travel. As a general rule of thumb, please feel free to travel out of Canada for 1 month before "in process". Once "in process" travelling is not recommended. You should never inform CIC of your travel on your own. Hope this helps.

Hi khushim, Send NDVO case specific inquiry explaining your situation. Next step your spouse in Canada should contact his MP and explain the situation. MP intervention will help expedite. Relax, this might make you feel good. NDVO can stamp your expired passport if they desire and later you...

Hi neha2515, You do not need to send any thing about the travel to NDVO as long as your husband returns to Canada in a normal time maxing out at 1 month. Though arguably he can stay with you for more than a month, its not advisable.

Hi sachopr, My condolence for your father-in-law. I wish good health and quick recovery of your mother-in-law. Now, normally if one is absent from Canada for a period of 3 to 6 weeks while sponsoring and then returns to Canada no flags are raised. Since your wife has been absent from Canada for...
