I was told by the person in their office that they are doing the best they can, they have increased number of applications. So, nothing to do just to wait...and have patience...I am planning to go on the cruise ship for couple of months if i pass the interview and come back if everything goes...

That is soooo true...lol, good one...I would say check CIC letter specifications for reference letter. Think in the term of a cover letter: you are trying to convince immigration to accept what you are writing/applying for, its like a marketing tool for your friend: how long have you known him...
