    US outland applicants' thread :)

It sounds like a lot of people are getting DM this week. I do wish they'd also add an 'approved' or 'Not approved' field would make me feel better. Other people have said the PPR emails go out in batches and it looks like there should be one coming soon so fingers crossed!

Got Decision Made today! Hoping it is a positive decision. No email from CIC yet. Fingers crossed!

Decision Made is that a yes or a no?

So on ECAS the PR Application Status changed to DM today. There is no new message though. On MyCIC everything is the same as it was, all in progress, medical passed. No email or mail from CIC yet. We had a few issues with additional documentation requested so what I'm wondering is if I can...

how long did it take for you?

So what does that mean that they filled the quota? Does that mean no one would be approved between then and the start of the new year?

    US outland applicants' thread :)

We seem to attract unusual requests. SA took 5 months because they wanted the IMM 5409 even though their own documentation says it wasn't needed. I thought I'd read somewhere he didn't need to submit an RCMP check so we didn't do one up front. I can't imagine what flag they would have seen to...

Thank you I needed a reality check. I will order the GCMS notes just in case. With any luck they will show up after all is approved :)

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Hello everyone! We sent in our application in March as common law. We got SA in August and then in Sept they asked for more proof of cohabitation. We sent that within a couple of weeks and then in late November they requested an RCMP police certificate as my partner had lived here in Canada...

RCMP Record Check Request - Question

We are filing common law and our file went to the Ottawa VO in August. In mid September we received a request for additional proof of cohabitation which we sent in within a week. Its been nearly two months and today we got a request for my partner (he is from the US) to submit an RCMP record...

statutory declaration of common-law union IM5409

I second this. CIC wound up requesting this document anyway and due to bad timing and us being apart at the time (I had just gotten back from a visit when I got the request) it cost us 2 months. My partner in the US is able to get notary service from his bank for free so maybe that is...

Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union - notary public necessary?

I can't speak for England but my fiance's bank in the US does notary service for free. Might be worth checking out. Also, as someone who did not send in the declaration of common-law with our application I highly recommend doing so as it adds a lot of time while they request and wait for it...

Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union IMM 5409

It is an odd document. I think the proof part is there because if there was a co-signer that was a common-law spouse that is where you would attach the proof. I didn't bother re-sending the proof since it had already been sent as part of the applicants package.

Statutory Declaration of Common-Law Union IMM 5409

The notary is only confirming that it is you and your partner that are signing the document. They are not confirming the common-law relationship so the proof will not be required when taking the document to sign.

IMM5409 (common law statutory declaration) questions and advice requested

I hear you, its really a ridiculous form. Its on the checklist so that's all they care about. I had even sent a case specific inquiry where I attached their own documentation telling me I didn't need it and they just sent another request for it. And go ahead and rant. We all understand :)

IMM5409 (common law statutory declaration) questions and advice requested

As someone who did not send this form and had it requested I highly recommend it. It cost us an extra 2 months to get it dealt with as we were not together when it was requested. To answer your questions: 1) The form is set up for it to be signed together by one notary however we had no...

Common Law - Proof of Cohabitation Advice

Sorry to doubt your word but I had to confirm with CRA and wow I am shocked! I had no idea, wish I'd known a while ago. Anyway so now I'm in the process of changing my status to Common-Law. Its a little complicated since he also has to file taxes for the years he was here but you are right it...

Common Law - Proof of Cohabitation Advice

Well actually in Saskatchewan (where I live) common-law is defined as 2 years. We lived together for 1.5 years before he lost status and had to return to the US so it never occurred to me to file as common law. Its confusing because for the purposes of this application we are common law under...

Common Law - Proof of Cohabitation Advice

I did name him as a beneficiary on my life insurance and sent in that document with my application. I think I messed up the statutory declarations. When I asked my friends/family for the letters they discussed our relationship and didn't really say anything specific about us living together...

Common Law - Proof of Cohabitation Advice

I'm sorry my message was a little confusing. The list I wrote above are all the things I originally sent. I haven't yet gathered anything else to respond to their request. I will get a letter from my landlord stating we lived together and get it notarized. With the application I did send 3...

Common Law - Proof of Cohabitation Advice

Hello everyone, We are applying common-law, outland and received a request yesterday for additional proof of cohabitation. The situation is a little confusing as he lived with me for 1.5 years 1 year in one place and 6 months in a 2nd place. For the 2nd place we have more proof since he was...
