Hong Kong transit for Mainland citizens going to Canada

Ya, I'll see if I can get in touch with them. Reason I fly out of Hong Kong is it seems to be the only spot near my wife that has direct flights to Toronto.

I would try to find a studio that could do English. I guess depending where you are that might be more difficult. My wife lives close to a city that has some professional photographer studios, and we went to a place that has English stamps.

No deal but I had to change my flight so we picked May 26. It just seemed like a reasonable date. I read before some people get their COPR in less than 3 weeks, so I think it will be OK. I was originally going to come home in April, but when we passed the interview I decided to stay until she...

Perhaps not entirely safe, but I booked a flight for me and my wife on May 26. Sent my wifes's passport today with all the required stuff. I really hope 4 weeks is enough time.

Hong Kong transit for Mainland citizens going to Canada

I read on the Hong Kong immigration website that people with mainland passports do not need to get their Hong Kong visa if they are going to transit to another country provided they have proof, etc... I am just wondering if anyone here has done this and can confirm it? I really don't want any...

    Background Check

They won't scrap the application, they will just ask for a new medical. In my wife's case, we did a medical exam in Nov 2014, then applied in May 2015. The medical expired before we had an interview, but after the interview passed, they just ask us to send a new medical.

Mostly I agree, but perhaps there is too much detailed information available on the GCMC notes. I would like to see a lot more detailed info available on the e-cas system though.

We got our PPR today. Finally after almost 3 years(first application failed) we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Our immigration consultant has put together a really nice package for us, to make it easy to send. Also of note, the fees have gone up in price, and we have been told it...

    Approved PR application - question

A visitor visa and a PR visa are two different things. A friend of mine sponsored his mother-in-law for PR, while she was already in Canada on a visitor visa. They had to get the PR Visa, and the COPR, and leave Canada and come back in order for her to be registered as a permanent resident.

I am going to write to John McCallum at some point as well. It does seem very unfair, but I think for most cases, there are reasonable explanations as to why there is a time difference. The biggest issue is lack of transparency in the process, which leads many people to start guessing why...

Perhaps, but I have read some posts in other categories when CSIS checks have taken many months, even a year or more. People even contact CSIS to get an update but they get a generic 'the check is in progress' type message back. Many of these posts are years old, so I don't know if CSIS has...

Reading other forums I believe Criminality is done by the police in the country of origin. In the case of mainland China, you can get a criminal history check report from a police department, and get it translated and notorized yourself. I think in Hong Kong itself the police send the report...

I understand that exactly. The problem is there is not enough clear and frequent updates to the status of anyone's application to fully understand why some go fast and some go slow. There might be legitimate reasons why this happens, such as some saying some people get simple background checks...
