URIFiggy, I have a question :) Did you by any chance list a second country in the list of countries recently lived in? Because I'm starting to get really worried with our delay, and I'm thinking that it has something to do with them having to check with Bulgaria where I lived for the last 3...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Speaking of which, does anyone know if it's still true that inland takes longer than outland? I'm really starting to regret filing outland, especially because of the work visa thing. But who knows when that would have arrived as well. Shortly after filing outland, I had a CIC phone operator tell...

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

Yes, that sounds like the optimal choice for us :)

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

Ok, thank you everyone. What about taking a "3D and Animation" course since that is what she is interested in, has experience with, and will be working some day. She can do that either in Morocco (that is where she lives with my parents right now) during her last year of high school, or after...

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

Thank you everyone. I'm still in shock of the news :/ Like someone here mentioned, in the US you most def. can bring your siblings over (granted it takes anywhere from 5 to 15 years for the queue, or at least it used to), so it absolutly never crossed my mind that you cannot do that in...

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

Oh WOW... how is it possible that I (and my whole family actually) have miss-understood the part about siblings!? I was certain that a person can sponsor their brothers and sisters for PR as long as they are under 18, but I guess that clause is just for your own children ....

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

we don't want her to visit, we are sponsoring her for PR, as a sibling under 18

Sponsoring a sister-in-law (under 18) - what are the conditions?

I am currently being sponsored by my husband, and waiting for my COPR and to "land", which should be happening within the next couple of months. My sister is turning 18 in October of 2013, and we want to sponsor her before that happens. What is unclear to us is: 1. Can my husband sponsor a...

    Crossing the border

I have to agree 100% with kafkaesque here, and I wish that I had found this thread a long time ago b/c it would have saved me so much headach at the border. I have now crossed from US to Canada about 8 times since last fall, while waiting for my PR papers, and I have been harrassed (what I felt...

I wonder if there is a way to change offices. I know some people who moved to Canada long time ago, had their PR processed in serval offices over the lenght of the process. I don't think that was intential or anyfaster in their case, but I'm just saying, it can be done, so MAYBE it can be...

I see several Pasport request statuses on the spreadsheet.... does that mean the PR is aproved and you just have to get the visa stamped and land? If that is the case, WOW! and what the hell are all the other VO doing that they are so slow!!!

Oh, well they don't say it specifically, so I saw some table with various fees and I added what I knew we would need to have :) New question: I can't find the link to read up about open work permits and if I qualify. I've read it before, but now cannot find it. I'm thinking since Buffalo is...

$1090, we paid the PM Card processing fee as well (I had forgotten, but that's exactly $50). But still, why not just keep that until the end instead of asking us again for it later?

We received the strangest email from Mississauga yesterday. A refund of $50 to the Sponsor with no explanation AT ALL. It just read: "This refers to the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class you submitted to this office on behalf of ..... and family (if applicable). A refund in...
