Oct applicants no AOR and reapply

Thing is, making re-application a norm in the future will set a dangerous precedent. It wastes the applicant's resources and wastes IRCC's resources

Oct applicants no AOR and reapply

I wish I had a definite answer for this. Just a few days ago, while following a community member's day-by-day analysis of AOR's in October, around 75% of the applications delivered on Oct 13 had received AOR status (if I recall correctly). If the average time to go to AOR is being touted as...

Oct applicants no AOR and reapply

As has been suggested on this thread already, wait for 2-3 weeks more. Highly highly recommend that.

    Oct 13 waiting for AOR

If you take a look at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16cfQUVB3j56QktacolbsAxpNlOrvk2uFGZzm_ZFCnfg/htmlview?sle=true#, you'll see that there are still a number of people from Oct 13 that are still waiting to hear. You'll also see from the small sample size (number of applicants per...

Toward Understanding Bill C-6 to Amend Citizenship Act; new 3/5 rule plus

I'm no expert, but I think Sen. Omidvar intends to include an amendment about that changes the government's authority of repealing citizenship of those who misrepresent details (or something like that). This is in part due to a liberal MP Maryam Monsef recently learning that her country of birth...

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

Yes, I plan to uphold my ties to Canada. I have family in Canada, a student loan to pay off, so bank accounts will remain open. I won't have rent/mobile etc, so that might be an issue. But after some heavy thinking about the situation, I think it makes most sense to not apply for citizenship...

Toward Understanding Bill C-6 to Amend Citizenship Act; new 3/5 rule plus

It's clear by now that Bill C-6 will see delays due to a possible amendment. Senators in support of the bill hoping that it gets moved to the committee by next week or so. I think C-6 will get royal assent sometime next year. Very low chance of being disbanded.

BREAKING NEWS Bill C-6 finally passed in HoC, Now reading in Senate

I agree with your point, but there are multiple reasons why people might come to Canada despite some troubles that they might face (family, love, adventure etc)

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

I totally understand. I've heard stories of how ridiculously easy attaining citizenship used be back in the day, and I'm glad that the process has become more rigid in recent years. People who're committed to attaining citizenship and living in Canada should not have too much to worry about...

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

Hey, I hope you made that comment after reading my entire post :) Does becoming a country's citizen equate to spending the rest of your life in the country, no matter what? I want to leave Canada just for 1 year, on contract work. I intend to live in Canada after that because I have work/family...

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

Point well noted. One good thing that might hopefully help me is the fact that I had my Permanent Residency successfully renewed in mid-2016, and the application process is very similar to the citizenship process (details of my work/study, history of addresses, detailed absences from Canada...

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

Wow, that's the kind of detailed response that I was looking for. Thank you for that! I didn't know/expect that the intent to reside process would be equally as difficult or even more difficult under the liberals.

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

You sure about that? CIC website says that you can be abroad after sending in your application. Citizenship test, interview and oath ceremonies need to happen in Canada, but there's no requirement apart from that.

An unusual situation with regards to intention to reside

Hello, good people of this forum! It's a pretty long post so please bare with me. I am eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship by early January 2017 according to current rules. However, the intent to reside rule is giving me nightmares because I have a 1-year contract job in Europe...

It might be normal here, but the very fact that you're able to directly converse with an MP here makes this country awesome.

BREAKING NEWS Bill C-6 finally passed in HoC, Now reading in Senate

This thread has turned into a s**t-show in the past few days. I'm sure all (or most) of us have a common goal to monitor the progress of Bill C-6. When it comes to citizenship eligibility, the current online presence calculator reigns supreme (as long as you've filled it accurately). Criticism...
