It is old process, If you are getting approved now(living in canada), you are directly being sent invite to do telepone landing through some selection process. If you were asked to submit passport (month or so ago - because you got approved before thsi process rolled out) you have 3 options...

I think in this case there is no need to send passport as you are already in canada

if they did not have pr and worked in canada they should have been on a work permit if the work permit had any noc code, that could also be evidence to associate that period with that noc code
