The TFN is for inlands only though. Have a friend in France trying to call it, doesn't work. Perhaps via Skype? Often the guys at CIC treat you better if you speak in french, even if your French is not good. Not sure why, but I've had far better experiences when trying French rather than English.

Congrats for the passport hazle15! How long since you sent it? About your question, the way I've heard it there's a u-turn at the border near Montreal, for people to just 'leave' Canada and return. Now that said, I haven't done it yet and I don't know if you'll need a US visa for that.

If you're inland, call them early in the morning. Usually before 8am or 7:30 the lines are empty and you'll talk to someone in a few minutes (to avoid the 40 mins wait if calling during daytime).

@cohenbrother as of today I'm at the same situation. I've shipped mine on the 12th, but later (6pm). It updated to "Out for Delivery" at 10am this morning. Difference is this timeline still makes sense to me because I've sent it later that day. Perhaps all our passports are on the same bin...
