Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Ohmygosh, ang mahal pala sa St. Luke’s? To think namamahalan na ‘ko sa 10k na binayad ko sa IOM. Kabado rin ako non kasi sabi, you could pay more daw if the physician recommends other tests or certain treatments. Sa incidentals pa lang talaga ang laki na ng gastos

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Oh wow. That was awesome. With my tuition at the University of Alberta, there was no intermediary bank kasi e, so I thought it would be the same for the GIC. When I paid my tuition, BPI only charged me 2500ish PHP for the service fee. Apparently not the same for GIC. Kasi with my tuition, U of A...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Not sure how the medical works for regular stream. But for the upfront medical kasi for SDS, wala namang ni-require na vaccines. Sa IOM po ako nagpa-medical. Even when I received my study permit approval from IRCC, wala rin namang instructions with regard to such prerequisites to enter their...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

I don't remember exactly how much the fees were kasi when I checked my online banking, hindi naka-breakdown. Basta from what I remember, na--underestimate ko 'yung conversion from PHP to CAD + the fees when I did a wire transfer to the Canadian bank for GIC. Halos 14,000 'yung overbudget ko...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Yes, a peso account with BPI is okay. They'll inform you of the conversion and get your consent before they proceed with the wire. Fees are rather steep though, but I think that's the case naman for most PH banks talaga.

IELTS - Writing - For Band 7 or Above.

OMG, I have always had that hunch. I signed up to take the IELTS (academic) with IDP, and took the exam last year. Generally, I have self-awareness, and know what my weaknesses are, and it's definitely not speaking. I was very focused on not committing grammatical errors and mispronouncing any...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

If they would require those additional documents, they would notify you to send them (I think); however in my case, they didn't. I got approved nonetheless. What I found convenient with the online application was that you're not compelled to put everything in because the fields to upload...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

I think kahit anong bangko po, capable naman mag-wire ng funds for GIC. In my case po, I wired money to Scotiabank in CAD amounting to 10,200 CAD. 'yung 200 kasi processing fee yata nila 'yun. It took about a week before Scotiabank received the funds, and it had to go through an intermediary...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

I didn’t either. On the list of requirements in the CIC website, it was there along with police clearance, but when I lodged my SDS application online it didn’t have a field for both documents so I didn’t bother uploading them.

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Pag paper-based application (which only applies po to Regular Stream), you'll be able to attach as many supporting documents as you can. Pero if you lodge po kasi your application online (pag SDS online lang po ang option), you are only able to upload documents that they are asking for. Wala...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Are you still looking into traveling for tourism first, or this time, derecho na pong mag-apply ng study permit? I have an unconventional tip. I've noticed (although this is not for sure) that the US is much more lenient with giving out tourist visas to people who have traveled as much as you...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

Hindi po sure ang approval kahit SDS, but it might be easier to get approved for a study permit if you take that route instead, given that you show proof of payment for your entire tuition for the first year plus a GIC of 10,000 CAD. Ano po bang course niyo na natapos dito sa atin at ang...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

In my case, opo. I purchased a GIC from Scotiabank since requirement po for the SDS route. Ang napansin kong nawala sa list of requirements were NBI and police clearances, which I'm not sure po kung kelangan pa rin pag regular stream.

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

The questionnaire was rather confusing for me too, at first. But I realized when (or was it after) I completed the questionnaire, that the system determines what kind of application you'll lodge after you've responded to the questions. For instance, there were questions about whether you have...

Anyone applied a Student Permit from Philippines?

My relationship status po is "common law"; I declared my partner (we're both women). Pero she is not coming with me to Canada, kasi she also has a career here. So ang arrangement po namin is that she'll visit me every Christmas na lang until I graduate. 'Yung master's degree program ko po is for...
