MP has no leverage over immigration officer. No one has, even the PM himself LOL. I've contacted my MP several times. All they do is to check the status of your application which you can do yourself too.. They can't expedite any processes unfortunately

The delay mainly is due to security check. The thing is they have to verify every info with local authorities in different countries. This process varies between different countries. Its one hell of a frustrating wait for sure

I did. Its still under PS which they say is shorten for PreScreen, there is no group name for me. Group name and group numbers are both empty. My background check is started on October 15th. what is your timeline like? When did you apply, was asked for medical and stuff?

Reached 16 month milestone yesterday. Just called CIC, same useless info.. The application is being reviewed by the officer.. its still not finished.. we can't give estimate, blah blah

This is insane... I'm sure you did try to call IRCC.. what useful info could you get regarding your application expect it is waiting for final review?
