you don't mention when your sponsorship application was approved. I think that that is what he was referring to by "first decision" statement. Before a decision is made about the PR application one has to be made about sponsorship. That decision will be sent to your sponsor.

I can't remember if she requested specific length. I think probably 6 months because we didn't think they would extend beyond that at a time. I'm hoping the COPR comes soon but I've also read sometimes it can take 3-6 months after the passport request. Or at least some have experienced that...

so you have given birth to a son since you applied? If so congratulations! Is your son in Canada with you? If born in Canada I think he is already Canadian. I think you will have to declare him as a dependent not previously declared. But I am not very knowledgeable.

we didn't get an email re: DM. We got one nearly month ago for passport request. I don't think anyone gets email re DM. You prob get a letter in mail.

I would buy travel insurance for 6 months before you leave US and then renew it just before it expires. That's what my wife did. She did her medical in Canada but that is not covered by insurance.

We checked CIC website today and saw my wife's status updated to Decision Made and processed on October 15th! Does this mean COPR was mailed out that day? On Sept 25th we got a email requesting the passport copy (she is US citizen) and we scanned it back same day. So maybe she will get that form...
