Do you feel harassed by CIC because of the RQ?

I certainly do. I spent tens of hours trying to collect the information CIC requests for. I spent hundreds of dollars on translating good damn stamps. I argued with my bank to waive the fees on printing statements for the last 4 years. It's ridiculous. You obey the law, you pay your taxes...

RQ - meaning of "since your arrival in Canada"

I spoke with three agents today. The most knowledgeable one said that the time frames at the top of the RQ (the 4 year period before the application was signed) refers strictly to the the supportive documents one needs to send (i.e. T4s, bank statements, rent, etc) to CIC. Most of the times...

RQ - meaning of "since your arrival in Canada"

They should make the questions more clear or provide a detailed on how to fill them. I am spending hours trying to figure the nuances of their questions...

RQ - meaning of "since your arrival in Canada"

#1 - I tend to reply with YES and explain in the supplemental page #2 - I think that only the 4 years should be relevant, but with CIC you never know. #3 - I am a Citizen so I will move with her to maintain her PR status Cheers!

It's the CIT 0171 (09-2012). Does it make any difference?

RQ - meaning of "since your arrival in Canada"

Hi guys, My wife received the RQ questionnaire in Feb 2014 after she applied for citizenship in Sept 2012 and we are a bit puzzled about how to fill some fields. Few months after she applied for citizenship she accepted a job outside Canada and she is now, there. Now, most of the questions in...

Time spent outside Canada to buy a property

Actually, if you look at question #8 on the RQ it sounds like it is up to the CJ to decide if he wants to count that time or not. http://www.scribd.com/doc/201840696/CIT-0171-09-2012-E But it's not about buying a property, it's about selling it :) "Provide supporting documents that apply to...

Time spent outside Canada to buy a property

Actually, I am a Canadian citizen since 2012, so that's not an issue for me. However, I vaguely remembered a discussion on this topic and I was intrigued by that. Just wanted to know if it's urban talking... :)

Time spent outside Canada to buy a property

I've read somewhere (maybe on this forum) that the time spent outside Canada to find and buy a property in another country is counted towards the citizenship residency requirement. Or is it only for permanent residency? Can someone here confirm or point me to some official documentation? Thanks!

Citizenship Denied Due to Removal Order

For some of you here it seems logical to not live in Canada at all and pay taxes just because your are a citizen? I guess that it is also logical to pay taxes but don't be covered for medical in Canada, because your residence is in another country, right? I guess that not being allowed to...

Mainting PR status for Citizenship while outside Canada

That will be indeed difficult, especially in France where they don't want to rent to non-residents easily.

Mainting PR status for Citizenship while outside Canada

Yes, she's been here in Canada since 2009 until 2013, with maybe 1-2 months away. @canuck_in_uk - "If your wife was living in Canada for the 2 years prior to leaving in June 2013, she can stay out of Canada until June 2016". I guess this is true until they change the residency definition, to...

Mainting PR status for Citizenship while outside Canada

No, not for a Canadian company. But I could probably arrange for myself to be one my employer's payroll while outside Canada. Would that be a good idea?

I guess that I have to move to southern France then :) But how do I prove the Government that I moved there? Whom should I contact?

Mainting PR status for Citizenship while outside Canada

Scylla, I am a bit confused about the two definitions of permanent residence. When you mention "for citizenship she needs physical presence in Canada." this would mean that the days outside Canada can't be counted for when you apply for citizenship? If so, then there's no need to worry about...

Mainting PR status for Citizenship while outside Canada

I read that there are 2 types of residence, one for maintaining the PR status and one to be eligible for citizenship. Not sure though. Is there anything that I(she) can do to maintain the status?
