    March 2013 Applicant

Hi Akalak, I'm on the March 2013 outland spreadsheet...basically, I sent mine and my wife's package in March 4, 2013, I got the SA approximately one month later, and on September 16 my wife got her passport request (plus RCMP check request) which we sent back a week later. Now we're just...

    March 2013 Applicant

Just checked CIC for my wife's status...as of now it's changed to Decision Made :) It also says "We started processing your application on October 16, 2013"...but so far my wife hasn't received an email yet....guess we wait and see :O I'm guessing an interview wasn't required at this time?

I don't think it means that specifically, but it's likely very close. :) By the averages of what I'm seeing here it's about 4-5 weeks between a PPR and a COPR issuance, if the decision does indeed go your way :)

Border Crossing Rules when waiting for PR

For sure...the visitor record does not guarantee re-admission to Canada (even says so on the form) but ever since we've gotten it, there has been no issue with back and forth crossings. They look at it and they don't even ask my wife her status, intentions, anything really...they just wave us...

Canadian living in America wanting to bring spouse back "home" (Canada)

Hi there, Since you're a Canadian citizen, you can sponsor your husband, but you would have to prove that you intend to live in Canada when he is approved as a PR. Moving back up here certainly doesn't hurt your cause :) In the meantime, your husband CAN visit with you; since he's from a...

Outland app in progress...can my husband get a work permit?

I think what screech339 is stressing is that you can, but the company must be based in America (i.e. not just working for a Canadian office of an American firm), and that his paychecks, which must likely be in U.S. funds, are coming directly from that American company. Essentially he's a...

Do we get stuff back? :)

Might be a crapshoot then....someone should keep a scoreboard on what's kept and what gets returned!

Do we get stuff back? :)

Ah, so I probably already subconsciously read that months ago and that we proceeded anyways. :) I'm sure we went in with the mindset of knowing we'd likely never see any of this stuff again, so no harm done. We actually applied outland, but probably the same story... Thanks!

Do we get stuff back? :)

Hi all, It didn't occur to me to ask this before...but...in my wife's application package, she included photographs, a marriage certificate, and some other little tidbits (such as ticket stubs with our names on them) that had some sentimental value. Do we get any of this back? Not a huge...

Outland app in progress...can my husband get a work permit?

Hello there...from the CIC site: If your spouse or common-law partner is in Canada on a temporary resident (visitor) visa, they have to apply for a work permit to be able to work. Your spouse or common-law partner can apply for a work permit from inside Canada if: -they have a temporary...

Exclusion order will appreciate expert advice

If it's a departure order, you can apparently return right away, as long as you have the proof of your departure. If it's an exclusion order, and you remain out for 12 months, you do not need to apply for an ARC, as long as you have the Certificate of Departure. In both cases you will still be...

Fiance coming to Canada on TRV... how long does she say she's coming?

Hi Goury, you say you've been in Canada four months, but I'll assume you are at least a Permanent Resident yourself (you must be a citizen or a PR to sponsor your spouse). As far as having your spouse visit there is no risk from what I can judge. If she will be applying outland this process is...

    Police Certifications

If that's the address you gave the RCMP, I imagine so. I don't know if they have a requirement to only send to Canadian addresses.

    Police Certifications

In my case they sent it to me. I imagine it will be the same for you. :)

Re: American Girl and Canadian Boy. UPDATED! I need a few more answers!

That sounds pretty reasonable. When my wife first came to "live" with me (we weren't married yet, we didn't know if we WERE going to get married, so this was basically a trial living period), we brought over what amounted to a good carful of her stuff :) In retrospect that probably wasn't the...

    sponsorship process

As I read on in the article it's unclear to me...they do say if the parent is a Canadian citizen by either birth or naturalization, but that it is limited to by descent to one generation born outside Canada. So if the father is a naturalized citizen (i.e. even if not born here) would it not...

    sponsorship process

Ahh...from Wikipedia: "Every person born outside Canada after 15 February 1977, who has a Canadian parent at the time of birth, is automatically a Canadian citizen by descent." I stand corrected, then :) So while the app itself may not be affected, do take Rob_TO's advice regarding the...

    sponsorship process

It is the mother who is in Mexico, however, and I'm assuming she has no current status in Canada :) Now, as you suggest, perhaps this doesn't mean there would be no coverage if the child is born here....the father's employment may have something that counts for this; I'm not entirely sure...

    sponsorship process

Not the expert here, but, in all honesty....I would STRONGLY consider holding off on the pregnancy until your PR is confirmed. From everything I have read here, having a child changes the whole process because you are now adding a dependent to the application. Now, if the child is born in...
