    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

A family friend offered my husband a job when he lands so he can start making money right away while he looks for something in his field. My husband also converted his US dollars into Canadian so now we have about $20,000 CAD combined. We also have his and mine tax return plus a cover letter...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Being married to me, he couldn't even apply for social assistance. A married couple can't separately receive assistance. My annual income in 18,000. We don't really have family support and we only have 6000 in savings. He has US tax returns though. I hope it will be sufficient.

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Hi guys. I received an email from CPC Ottawa this morning. I am in receipt of ODSP and I was under the impression that I could sponsor my spouse given that I was receiving social assistance for disability. Furthermore, how can he provide proof they require when he is living in the States? When...

Isn't Dr. Sherman the only panel doctor in MI? He charged $200. The lab tests were extra and came up to around $200. Went to the ones in the name building.

    Getting a divorce. Question

I am very familiar with mood and personality disorders. I am not arguing against the notion of together through sickness and health but there is something to be said about a person who refuses to get help and instead uses their loved ones like a punching bag. I don't think he is a bad person to...

    Marriage Fraud Investigation

Zardoz, it is the same here. I had proof of abusive behaviour as well as multiple instances of adultery. I didn't ask for child or spousal support which is why I think he didn't contest it. He happily signed everything and it was final 5 months later. I know another couple that wanted a joint...

Uh, no, actually. I live in Canada and got divorced here. He was abusive so the one year separation thing didn't apply.

    Marriage Fraud Investigation

I've been divorced before. He was incredibly abusive and constantly blamed his behaviour on his mental and personality disorders. I tried to help but he had every excuse to avoid getting better. Eventually I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't hire a lawyer because all the forms and directions...

    Getting a divorce. Question

Well, the abuse is unacceptable. Fine line between helping and enabling.

Is that abnormal? I imagine most people would apply immediately or soon after they marry.

We went to Lena Photo in Windsor. It was $20 tax inclusive for 4 photos. The photographer was a really nice guy and said he keeps all photos on file forever in case they're ever needed again.

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

Oh, thank you for clarifying. They haven't updated their forms then? There was a choice of interview location when we submitted ours. Really hoping there isn't an interview. Don't really want to go to LA. He has no dependants, no criminal record, and he's lived in one place his entire life so I...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

My husband had his medical done by the only panel physician in Michigan. He has insurance but the costs are so high to begin with that he still ended up paying $200 on top of the $200 doctor fee for the xray, blood, and urine test. This doctor didn't even perform a proper physical. Just asked my...

    JUNE 2014 OUTLAND applicants

I called this morning as well. Got my UCI number and was told by the agent that it's been approved. I checked application status online, however, it only says that it was received. I guess it hasn't been updated. Does this get transferred to Ottawa now or my husband's hometown of Detroit...

Hi there, Just added myself to the list. I am a Canadian sponsoring my American husband of 7 months. I am in Hamilton, ON and he lives near Detroit, MI so fortunately, the wait hasn't been terrible; though of course we want it to process quickly. We paid all the fees in advance, got the medical...
