A little update on my application. App filed Jan 16th 2017. Last communication from CIC was Feb 20th, when Schedule A, PCC and IMM5546 was requested. Uploaded them all the next day, Feb 21st, to myCIC account. ECAS still only says Application received and Medicals passed (since March 3rd)...

I received my GCMS notes a couple of days ago, and it seems like my application is being processed not in London or Ottawa which I thought it would. Instead Mississauga is doing the elegibility, security and background check.

Don't do anything, your friends are right, that's a generic email from the visa office. Only worry about what's applicable for you, which in this case seems to be nothing based on your info and the email you received.
