From what I've heard is that 15 days is usually enough time. it's been 10 days for us. Also, they have not changed the listed address to our eventual Canadian address yet. Hopefully everything is ok.

It seems really random. My wife just told me this morning that there were a few people who got decision made on Aug 27th and 28th received their passports yesterday. There must be a method to the madness, but it's anyone's guess as to what it is. It seems that it took half the time for them to...

They send out passports in batches? How did you find this out? It makes sense I guess, but it also seems unnecessary. It seems to be that waiting for 4 weeks or more is unacceptable. I guess they have their reasons, but I think the better way to do it is to send the passport out as soon as the...

Hey, have you received the passport yet? We got the DM2 on Sept 12, 2012 and are trying to guess when it will arrive. In China, they use EMS to deliver the passport and as we have used this service before, we know that the EMS delivery guy will call when he's at your home. We were reading a...

Hey everyone, I have good news! Finally we have received the DM2! The Beijing VO has had my wife's passport for 34 days (Aug 10th, 2012) and now all we have to do is wait until they send the passport back. Speaking of which, does anyone have any idea how long before they send the passport...

Hey everyone, My wife got her DM2 today! So excited! To recap: They have had her passport since August 10th, 2012 (so they had it for a total of 34 days before making the decision). Now we just have to wait until they send her the passport. Quick question: We have moved to a new condo...

Yeah, I can understand the worrying. Did you double-check that your mailing address is correct? You could also try calling them, however, the last time I tried calling the Beijing VO, I couldn't figure out how to get to a live representative.

I've heard it can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 1 month for them to send it out. But that's just hearsay. I'll ask my wife to check some Chinese forums to see what others went through.

pls i need ur help guys

Waiting sucks, but getting a visitor's visa shouldn't be too difficult to obtain as long as you meet the requirements. Stay positive and while it's not ideal, using Skype can help a lot. Good luck.

Wow, that seems quite long. Strange how they asked for their passport so early. It cripples your wife for any international travel and seems to me they should ask for the passport only when they are ready to put resident's permit inside. I'm sure they have a reason for this, I just have no idea...

It's so strange, I would think that people using the American VOs would be the fastest. Yet, in all actuality, Beijing seems to be the fastest. I wonder what makes one faster than the other? Size of staff? Speed of work? Or does Canada set specific quotas for each office?

What you have to do is send the entire application all at the same time to CIC office in Mississauga. After your husband is approved as a sponsor, the office in Mississauga will forward your complete application to the Beijing or Hong Kong visa office. Just make sure everything you send in is...

Sure, I post all my updates on here. They've had my wife's passport since Friday, August 10th, 2012. I'm hoping it's only another week or so until we get resident's permit. I'm really hoping it'll be any day now.

The good news is that they will probably give you the resident's permit after the interview before you leave the office. We haven't been asked for an interview, they just requested my wife's passport. Good luck!

I'm not sure you'd have to send in a whole new application form. I would just reprint that one page, or write a letter informing which sections on the app you'd like to change and state what that change is. Be as clear as possible in the letter. I think that would be ok, but I'm not 100% sure.

Thanks! We are so excited, and hope that other visa offices besides the one in India and China pick up the pace.

The best thing to do, is fill out the entire application and then right before you're ready to send it in, get the physical. It should be valid for the entire length of the process. My wife and I sent it all in together.

UPDATE: So, we sent her passport in last week, and just now (Wed Aug. 8, 2012) we got the final request for her passport! So, it seems that they didn't mind us sending it in early. Now we just have to wait until they send it back to us with her residents permit in it.
