    ****October 2018**** INLAND SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP

My understanding (could be wrong!) is that Ecas is usually used by the sponsor, and GCKey by the applicant. As the sponsor, I have my own account there but I don't have a GCKey one. Maybe it's taking you the GCKey because you have an account with them? I log in with our application number and...

Me neither! I keep logging into Ecas so I don't have to bug my partner to check GCKey (I think the whole thing stresses him out). Our time will come :) I just keep telling myself that as long as we are processed in the average time, I really shouldn't care when the various steps happen.

    ****October 2018**** INLAND SPOUSE SPONSORSHIP

Interesting! I don't put much stock in what the IRCC website says, but that would be awesome if it were true. We're October 11 applicants, and I think my partner is starting to get a bit nuts at home. At least a work permit would bring him the stress of finding a job, rather than the boredom...

I think it varies - I've heard anecdotal stories about people getting extended for a year. We were extended by 6 months each time.

For sure! We were really nervous when we applied the first time, because we had a lot riding on it. At that time, he also had a return ticket, which we mentioned. We also mentioned his travel history to try to prove that he wasn't a risk. Basically, we tried to address any issue that they...

Applying for a visitor status extension gives you implied status until they make a decision (I stand to be corrected by more senior forum members). My partner has had 2 extensions (been here since September 2017). The first one was processed within a month, but the second took about three...

Hi Kareng - it's really unclear when you're actually paying, and we only were made aware of the fact that there were two things to pay for because of this forum. There's the $155 permit fee and then a $100 fee - I believe it's called something like "application for new work permit" or some...

Presentation of Common Law Spouse Sponsor Application

There is a basic and a detailed guide to the application, although the CIC website is not that intuitive and they can be hard to find. Here's the link for the basic guide; I can't find the more detailed one right now...

Ours will be about $340 in Victoria, BC - we found that the prices were listed on the doctors' websites. It looks like the breakdown is : Medical exam/final report - $175, cash only X-ray - $90 - credit/debit only Lab work - $75 - credit/debit only I told my partner he's getting a urinalysis...

I did see some people (a couple of months ago) posting in a thread and saying that OWPs were coming within something like 72 to 78 days after the application was received. I'll see I can find it again. Since then, I've seen people getting their OWPs about 100 days after application received...

common law - is joint bank account necessary for us

@Wayne72 - My partner (non Canadian) opened an account at TD. It was straightforward, and I was later added to it. I believe RBC will also let non-Canadians who are in the country on a TRV open an account.

Ha, we were worried about that too, after everything we read. Hopefully it will link soon. I think you just have to wait, but experts can weigh in :)

Awesome news elcwhitney! Very happy for you. We were able to link our PR the day we got AOR, and just linked OWP this morning.

His visitor status would have expired September 29, 2018. We submitted a visitor extension request at the beginning of September, but the backlog seems to be pretty bad, so he hasn't heard anything about it yet. We sent the OWP and PR at the beginning of October.

That makes sense. He was on implied visitor status when we sent the OWP application and now we are just waiting. Thanks for all your help!
