Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

This is the time guys. If all of us or even 20% of us tweet to Minister McCallum the following: "PGP Sponsorship is a mess. As hardworking Canadian taxpayers, we ask the program be reformed so we can be reunited with our families sooner" Think of the impact 1000+ tweets like this will have...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

I checked out a few local courier companies in the GTA, here are my impressions: VW Courier: These guys have a great website, separate section for the sponsorship program and home pickup service, but their prices are exorbitant, at $200+tax for 8 am delivery. Metro Mississauga: They too have a...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

So are most people going to be using Purolator for delivery? I live in the GTA and could use local courier services, the one I was looking at was VW courier because they have a separate section on PGP sponsorship, but they charge upwards of 100 bucks...

Tips for 2016 (Future) PGP Applicants

Hello folks, I have a question regarding the 2016 documents on CIC's website. After filling out and validating the forms, the code at the bottom of the barcodes shows 2014xxxx, even though the form is clearly dated 2015 at the bottom left hand corner. I had filled out the forms in 2014 and 2013...

Fastest way to sponsor my girlfriend to Canada

Thanks Rob_TO. We both do want to get married as we've talked about everything under the sun and also spent some time together. Since we both like each other, we thought why delay the marriage? I did read somewhere earlier that CIC liked to see a relationship develop in order to believe the...

Fastest way to sponsor my girlfriend to Canada

Hello folks, I'd like to request your help in making my dream come true. :) My girlfriend is currently in the UK on a work visa, and we've known each other for about 2 months. I want to marry her and sponsor her to come to Canada as my wife. I'm wondering what's the best option to do this...

WHEN YOUR PARENT SPONSORSHIP 2014 APPLICATION REACHED CPC-M? UPDATE HERE...

Hi Nina, I too got the AOR on June 9th in the same format as the others. However, it only says my application was accepted towards the 5k cap, but that doesn't really mean much. I could still get rejected in 2017! :( Are you planning to withdraw your application and reapply in 2015? Now that I...

WHEN YOUR PARENT SPONSORSHIP 2014 APPLICATION REACHED CPC-M? UPDATE HERE...

Nina, are you still sticking to the plan of pursuing the application? I will probably file my taxes soon and send CIC the NoA as soon as I receive the AoR, or perhaps even earlier, like you tried. I'm very pessimistic about them processing the application though. I'm still sticking to the plan...

WHEN YOUR PARENT SPONSORSHIP 2014 APPLICATION REACHED CPC-M? UPDATE HERE...

Rob, that's easy to say, but we can't predict the future. For all I know, CIC may lower the cap to 2000 next year or not accept any applications at all. If there's one thing I've learnt over the past few years with the new bone-headed policies being adopted by the Conservatives, it's that...

WHEN YOUR PARENT SPONSORSHIP 2014 APPLICATION REACHED CPC-M? UPDATE HERE...

My application was received on Jan 8th, and my CC got charged on the 24th. Btw I was one of those who sent pay slips for 2013 as my 2010 income was not meeting the minimum threshold. I did send the NOA's for 2010, 2011 and 2012 though along with a covering letter clearly stating that I did not...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

I too sent in my 2010, 2011 and 2012 Option C's with a covering letter explaining that I was not eligible based on 2010 income, but clearly was based on 2013 income. Let's see what happens. :)

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Thanks Nina. Did you send the 2010 Option C's with your application too? If not, they might just return the application as incomplete without assessing it like some members here said previously. Although the problem is that if the 2010 Option C's are included, the application will be counted as...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Thanks again Gentlemen. :) Will have to do a long, hard re-think on what decision to take. My only concern at this point is when will I find out about the refusal. If it is a long time, like 42 months+, then that means that I will not be able to reapply in 2015 while this application is still...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Thank you folks. Considering the timelines involved, I'm wondering if it is worth applying. If I do send in the application with Option C's from 2010, 2011 and 2012, (I don't meet 2010 MNI), when am I likely to find out about the refusal? Is it going to be 42 months from now, according to the...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Isn't it possible to appeal if they find the sponsor ineligible? There's a box in IMM1344 which we can check that allows this, I believe. I know it's impractical because the appeal process takes so long, but it does exist.

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Thanks, it's a shot in the dark, and even though this might be a good point for appeal, I know the practicalities of the appeal process mean that it will drag on for years, and my best bet would be to withdraw and start anew in 2015. Let's hope for the best! :)

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

Exactly. I do meet the MNI threshold for 2013, 2012 and 2011, but not 2010. Note that the income threshold must be maintained on the date of application submission and exactly 3 years prior. So if the application is submitted in 2014, you MUST meet MNI requirements for three prior taxation...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

You won't forfeit $1040, only $75. Make sure you check the option where it says if you don't qualify, you want the application returned to you.

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

If the app is returned, I will appeal. After all, the rules say we must submit proof of income for the 3 years immediately preceding the date of application. If CIC allows people who meet 2010 MNI requirements to submit their Option C's for that year, then it is essentially breaking its own...

sponsorship of parents and grandparents for Canadian Permanent Residence

I am in the same boat as you. I'm going to send in my application with 2013 pay stubs and a letter from my employer confirming my 2013 pay in lieu of the 2013 Option C printouts. For the other two years, i.e. 2011 and 2012, I will include my Option C printouts. It is unfair for CIC to ask for...
