Spousal Sponsorship - To lawyer or not to lawyer

Hola Kstamp, I didn't hired a lawyer, and I am glad I didn't waste my money. Even if money would not be an issue for you, I wouldn't advise it. For what I have read in various parts of this forum, hiring a lawyer does not makes it a much more speedy process. Many people here in the forum are...

    New Permanent Resident Card

Ho extreme001, My ECAS never show "in progress" for when Cnada was processing my PR card. I received my card 108 days after I landed. Since you are not visa-exempt in Canada, after you have landed, you can only travel with your COPR (and your passport), between the US and Canada, by land.

Hi nanniehn, the COPR paperwork received with the passport indicates the "issued date", and "valid to" date in the section APPLICATION DETAILS. You are supposed to land prior to the "valid to" date. Cheers!

No, the Mexican Police Clearance Certificate is required towards the end of the process. The instructions say that you must wait until receiving a request from CIC/Visa office to send it. The deal is that the "Constancia de Datos Registrales," as it is called in México, has a one month validy...

Good news! Yes, the PGR gives you a letter in Spanish, and you need to have it translated by a certified translator, but I didn't had mine notarized, and I had no problem. Abuelita

Great! Congratulations! Thanks for letting us know. I am still waiting for mine, I keep seeing that the CIC webpage indicates that is taking longer and longer (number of days) to issue one, but I am now hopeful that I will be getting mine soon.
