Not really, I looked at the LMIA application and it is very simple and basic information, I personally believe it takes a long time because of the political views right now going on about foreign workers coming there and stealing "every" job in Canada.

Each case is different, I wouldnt hide anything from the immigration officers, visiting your girlfriend/wife is a very good reason to travel to Canada. But then again I assume it matters a lot where you are from, however I had no problem when I told them I was gonna go for a 6 month vacation...

I dont think you need to have as much money as you claimed, I originally had about 10,000 dollars and the immigration officers didnt even ask for any evidence, all they wanted to see was my return flight and insurance and she stamped my passport for 6 months.
