Cathay are very good actually. You can also have a look at Singapore. They might be a little more expensive but the service is way better!

But that was from Montreal :). I think that if she settles closer to the west coast, it would be way quicker to do something like LAX - MEL - PERTH or Vancouver - HK and HK - Perth. No matter what, Australia is just too far away :)
