Infact I did the same (bank statement of my and my father's joint account) , as my consultant ww ! cs said it to be OK and there wont be any issue.

I do not know, why did they just keep all of your documents with them, rather than sending it to Visa Office. Ask them, what was the reason. I am keeping the mail id and address of their office only, as I can not get it on my office and also some time courier people mess up with the deliveries...
