I just applied for the Extend stay in Canada as a visitor IMM5708. If that's what you did previously then you would be classed as a visitor

I think it may depend on what country you come from? A visa waiver country is visitor whilst a country that isn't you have to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa. I might be wrong though. I've only have visitor visa and visitor visa extension.
