Good news : Checked the application process timeline today and it says "Includes assessment of sponsor: 47 days" Bad news: The overall timeline is still the same at 17 months :(

Yes, she is not covered for 90 days. Best option is to buy insurance. That should reduce your costs significantly.

Thanks for the reply. Follow up question - I am the Sponsor and am working in Canada and it seems I will be shortly getting "Sponsorship Approval". After I get the approval, can I move out of the country for work? Eg move back to India or USA? If I do, would that negatively impact the process...

Reading the forum posts, I think that visitor visa for spouses are getting rejected at a higher rate from Jan 2016. What do you folks think?
