CHC-ND usually asks for the passport very soon after the file is transferred there, during the initial review stage. There are other reviews on your file before the final decision is made which can be as early as a month too. CHC-ND accepts such requests for a second passport request. However...

It is ILLEGAL to send your Indian passport out of a country by mail or courier. Your only option is to go to India personally and get it stamped at New Delhi.

Just wondering the rationale behind 82 days... I mean there must be some reason behind that number, 82 days... so maybe its possible somebody from 23 March got approved- and not on this forum? And that's why they put 82 days..? ;D Just doing my bit to keep our spirits up!

82 days as of June 13, 2012 would mean that CIC is now processing applications received on 23 March! If we can assume that Feb 29 is for CIC-Mississauga and 82 days is for Ottawa, I still don't see any March applicants getting approved beyond 15 March.. ::)
