The entire process for me has taken more than 1.25 years and I am still not done. Some applications take time, for example, I have an extensive travel history and also lived in 6 countries, so they took FOREVER.

Yes, I got the same thing. It is just an extension for the deadline to submit your passport - a few other people also reported this in this thread and they received their passports without incident.

The wait for each and every damn step is a true killer.

The VFS people told me it takes about 10-15 working days.... I am in the same boat as you...

My timeline for those who are interested: 9 Jan - Email requesting passport 3 Feb - Submitted to VFS Bangalore, asking them to process it faster as I have to travel this week for work. 11 Feb - CIC account got a new message that is the same as the passport request letter Twiddling my thumbs...
