Hi, I did mine from he consulate in Vancouver. It took 2 weeks to get mine although it was written 6 weeks on the application. This was in may of last year. I dont know if things have changed now.

You have to call the CIC hot line number. The hot line will usually not connect you in the first try. Keep calling like 4-5 times and you will finally get connected. You can then book the appointment with the agent...they will tell you that yu will get a call back and u get one after 3-4 days...

In the COPR was your last entry date and original entry date the same...I recently entered last in Jan 2014 bit my initial entry date was Dec 2009....they have put the same Jan 2014 date in both places...is that normal OR its a mistake?

Damn....they put my wife's photo on my COPR...now I'll have to resend the COPR to them...

I got my passport back...its with Canada post though...have to still go pick it up...I sent it on May 30, 2014...

Well it depends on your luck...sometimes appointments with them take really long...so it helps going to the border...

I somehow feel you are not eligible to apply under FSW stream as you are a full time phd student...although you are employed by the department, it will be very difficult to prove that you are working as a civil engineer and not doing your thesis work under a supervisor...your work-experience...

I think you can ask CIC...just call them and ask as a general question...they will guide you...otherwise if they send you a passport request in the next one or two months (or more in some cases)....you would have to do your landing before the old passport expires...
