Leaving Canada after applying for citizenship. What to do with CRA, child benefit, taxes and driving licence?

Thanks for the correction @Mexontario . Is the 2 and 3 years out of the 5 years time window a rolling 5 years time window?

    Oath ceremony invite

@skilledworkerapplicant Congratulations! I know this is probably addressed in other threads, but I'll still ask here anyway. When did you apply for citizenship, receive your AOR, sit for your citizenship exam and receive the invite for the oath ceremony? @Ahmed15 @Fawny43 @adey786 Did you guys...

Leaving Canada after applying for citizenship. What to do with CRA, child benefit, taxes and driving licence?

@from_india_to_canada @Elkam123 Something worth considering and confirming with an immigration lawyer and IRCC. I learned from this forum about the need to fulfill the residence obligation (RO) of 1095 days (3 years) in the last 5 years and the "last 5 years" is a rolling 5 years time window...

Eastern First Name Last Name Conundrum On Citizenship Application

@Das67 Thanks Das. I'm just unsure if the citizenship application form accepts a blank entry on first name, i.e no first/given name. I don't think it will accept. Again on the following documents, my name appears: 1. PR Card Name KIM JONG UN 2. SIN First Name / Prenom: Middle Name(s) /...

Eastern First Name Last Name Conundrum On Citizenship Application

@Das67 PR Card: Name KIM JONG UN @ls200608 My passport does not separate into First/Given Name and Last/Family Name. It just has "Name".

Eastern First Name Last Name Conundrum On Citizenship Application

I will use Kim Jong Un as an example (please don't take any offense!). If my passport and birth certificate do not differentiate between First (or Given) and Last (or Surname) names, and only say Name: Kim Jong Un what should I state my First and Last Names? My family name or surname or in the...

Does a Minor need to submit pHyscial presence calculation?

I checked the checklist (CIT0008) and also the application form (CIT0003) and could not find anything on PCC for a minor. Perhaps your information is outdated, but if not, could you point me to which sections in either of the form or checklist where PCC is mentioned? Thanks!

Minor Child Citizenship Application - plz answer

I saw Q8 on form CIT0003 asks for the dates the minor was outside of Canada and then automatically calculates the number of days absent though. This is for subsection 5(2) - i.e. citizenship application for a minor by a parent who is also applying for citizenship the same time.

Does a Minor need to submit pHyscial presence calculation?

@blingyrie thanks! I was going through the form CIT0003 (application for Canadian citizenship - Minors under 18 years of age under subsection 5(2)). The form seems quite straight forward. On question 8, it asks for the absence history if the minor has been out of Canada for more than 730 days...

Does a Minor need to submit pHyscial presence calculation?

@blingyrie If the minor has fulfilled the RO (i.e. 1,095 days) but is not in Canada when the parent makes the application, is that allowed? The parent will be in Canada.

Must a child under 18 be in Canada when the parent applies for his/her Canadian citizenship?

Son will still be under 18 (in fact under 16) when he fulfills the 1,095 days residence requirement in Canada. We are all Canadian PR's. When I apply for the Canadian citizenship after fulfilling the RO, must my son be in Canada when I make the application? Or is it not a requirement because...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

All, it's been a few months since I posted my question and I have not come back into the forum. I got what I asked for. Obviously now, the topic has splintered off. Nevertheless, great discussions and I learn a lot. @kusrbo, last year January (before Covid took over the world), I was...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

@canuck it's a personal question. Ultimately, if I still have a job in Australia (nothing is certain these days), and the Canadian process is impossible, then yes. Australia it is.

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

Yes, nothing is impossible. I am told, leaving my job, buying a one way ticket, cancelling my current apartment lease and demonstrating all these to the Australian government guarantees an exit. That makes sense for the Australian government as there is no further risks imposed on the Australian...

Unable to meet the 730 days residence requirement due to Covid-19

@scylla - spouse is a PR too. This would be an option. If covid never happened, I would have a rotational work schedule where I'd spend half my time in Canada and the other half in Australia. With covid, this is impossible.
