Hi meldxb We went through the same thing coming from Australia to Canada. From our experience, it's more economical to buy it in Australia (if that is where you are from) and bring it with you.

But would she have medical cover for the birth while in Canada waiting for PR?? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you may have to pay for it privately without healthcare coverage. That could be costly.

Good point Toby, I didn't think to get a letter from my Australian insurer. We did that when we bought a house here and the premium was lower. I wasn't able to convert my licence until my PR card came anyway and I needed to get a car before then. All is good now, I have just received my PR...

I was able to get insurance for my car. I'm still on my Australian licence. The premium was just higher.

Hi Marc1701 Your visa will be stamped with a 'must enter before' date of exactly one year after your medical was done. So try to have the medical done as late as possible before submitting your application.

Hi everyone I landed in Vancouver yesterday. The experience was really nice and far easier than I expected. The officer checked my paperwork, asked a few questions and then sent us on our way. It took about 20 minutes. I love it here!! :)

You could perhaps get your parents to write a letter stating how much they are looking forward to you all coming back to Canada and that they are looking forward to having their family around them. Put that letter as part of your application package.

Hi Mark1701, I only took Appendix C to the medical checkup. I was given a signed form back, make sure you get that and include it with your application. I'm in Perth and the medical results were sent to Singapore.
