Never mind, answered the question myself: Your original temporary status as a visitor continues under the same conditions until your application is finalized and you have been notified of the decision.

er....one last question if you don't mind...! Once the application is submitted, do you still have to follow the duration of time left on your existing visa, or can you stay until the decision comes down? Because if you have to apply at least 30 days prior to expiry, and the current wait time...
