[My personal] Tips, tricks, strategies for IELTS General test from a CLB 10,9 er

Hey okbangaram, those are not bad tips. However, as an IELTS examiner and teacher I would disagree with or clarify a few points.. - Real world ability can change, but usually not very much in one month. Depends how intensive practice you do though. - Your actual score can be lower than your...

    Examiner's notes in Speaking test

We are supposed to give the score *after* the interview is over and the candidate has left the room. Some examiners might mark the score down *during* the test, but NOT in view of the candidate.

    Examiner's notes in Speaking test

The (visible) numbers that the examiner writes down is just the TIME, not your SCORES! :)

    Re-evaluation of IELTS score

It is very unlikely to get a higher mark on Reading or Listening, because they are objectively scored. Some candidates have gotten a better score when re-evaluated for Writing or Speaking.

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Well I can't tell you the *actual* topics, but Part 1 ask basic personal questions about where you live and what you do. Then it asks fairly simple questions about all kinds of things (watching television, clothing you wear, being busy, being patient). For Part 2 and 3 there are probably 50 -...

Sorry bafakih, while we only mark Writing and Speaking, the IELTS is not graded on a curve as far as I know. Good luck.

Yes, you should practice scanning and skimming skills. There are workbooks out there that help with this

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

JKnight.. I imagine you've found your answers by now... but that's right that examiners can teach IELTS prep, but not advertise it. It would be best to check with your local IELTS "authorities" though, I don't work out of Canada and policies could be different.. As for others requesting help...

    GT IELTS task 1 evaluation

Surb, I would give your first letter a 6.5 and the second letter a 6.5 or 7.0.

my band is surprisingly very low should I request remark ?

How did you do with your remark? Listening marking is not subjective so it's kind of unlikely to change in re-mark.

IELTS Test availability and Centers by partners

There is no difference in where you take the test. By the way, there is no actual standalone "IELTS organization". It is run by the British Council and a few other partners.

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Spyros, examiners do try to be friendly and helpful (um, not all though). As far as I know though, examiners are *not* supposed to make small talk with the candidate outside of the test and it certainly shouldn't affect your score. However, examiners are human and biases happen so it's always...

YOUR FEEDBACK ON THIS RECENT GIVEN IELTS ESSAY.

Correct, though the writing is of a fairly high standard the writer made the basic error of not addressing the prompt.. "discuss both views" with one view being "iving in high-rise apartment blocks makes people feel lonely and unhappy"

    I'm an IELTS examiner...

Hi cheers, I find an older book called "101 Helpful Hints for IELTS" to be pretty good. The official IELTS practice tests have answers and explanations so you can actually score yourself (except for speaking, of course).
