When I lived in New York, we used to go to the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls just for sightseeing purposes. Now, you are required to show your passport when you cross the border. Is it harder now just to go visiting - do they try to find out if you are "sneaking" in the country?
If they are children, they are not authorized to sign anything or make decisions, so they wouldn't need to go with you. You would probably do better to not take them with you, as you have no idea how long it will take.
That seems like an awfully long time for all of you to have to wait. I wish I knew the answers to your questions. I am curious to know the answer, myself.
There are lots of companies that offer their services to help with your paperwork and to obtaining a visa - are these companies just a rip-off, or are they legit?
I don't know what "sponser" means - can someone explain? If you are a Canadian PR, does that mean you are a Canadian native? Are your wife and child not from Canada?
That does sound shady to me. I doubt if I would trust something like that. They know that there are people eager to have jobs lined up and can easily be convinced of something like this.
I read that Manitoba's immigration is expecting a 50 year high - is this one of the more immigrant-friendly places, or is there a better place to live in Canada for immigrants?

Wow, over 2 years! Well, I know some of these things take a long time, but that seems awfully long. Can you contact the person who contacted you in July?
I'm not sure if I understand this - you are fed up and just up and leaving with nothing lined up? Where are you going to stay? You have children to support - how are you planning to live until you find something?
