Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

I had my parents send me a copy with translation from my home country. It sucks I know :( About notarized copies, I don't think there was ever a requirement to notarize copies of documents (unless the documents need to be translated), but I did it anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

That blows :( Anyway, one of my friends applied under FSW3 3 years ago (I think it was September 09 when he submitted his application to Nova Scotia), and he got his medical January last year if I'm not mistaken. He got his passport stamped around April or May '11, so the whole process was 19 -...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

I think T4As are fine. AF___ claimed that he only included TA/RA experience, and his T4 hours only totaled to 650, short of the required 1,950 hours. He got the remaining hours from T4A incomes, and he got his PER. Anyway, just getting the PER doesn't mean that you will get approved for sure...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

I answered 'no' as well, because I thought that completing a program meant completing a degree. Apparently, it is somehow possible to complete a program without obtaining a degree or credential (or that clause in the adaptability section wouldn't make sense). Hopefully what they really meant...

Questions regarding FSW forms and requirements

Hi smallkick, as mute_man said, I think you do need to include your son in your application, whether or not they accompany you. And I'm thinking about IMM5406E, where you have to list your spouse and all your children. I think that's what 'included in your application' means, because you write...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

Hi s.guo82, we have confirmed that at least TA/RA experience is accepted for eligibility review (but then again, in the two cases where TA/RA only applicants have been given PER, they claimed adaptability points through their either their spouses, or earlier degrees from Canada). Can you tell us...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

Hi jessiezz, thanks for sharing this with us. If you don't mind me asking, can you tell us if both your TA and RA experience was paid through T4A or T4 incomes? And how many hours per week and how many years did you claim? Also, since your application has 2 people, I'm assuming that you claimed...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

I agree with you, it's just that, depending on what your country of origin is, it sometimes is not that easy to gather all those documents from more than a decade ago. But you're right, it's always better to be safe than sorry. Anyway, getting PER should mean that at least your work experience...

Will Career break be considered for FSW?

Ya, I think you'll do just fine. The requirement is that, you have at least one year of continuous full-time experience within the last 10 years, so as long as you meet this (which you certainly do), then you should be fine.

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

I read from the other thread that they automatically assigned 12 years for all your education before college, and they counted the number of years from what's show on the transcript. It's good to see that they actually use some common sense during the process :D ngag, congratulations :D Do you...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

edwin83, that was fast :D Congratulations!!! Can you tell me if you have already been cashed? I would say that the situation was probably a bit different for the international stream. I'm assuming that FSW3-09 was probably either filled up completely really fast, or increased the number of...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

This will only apply to people that apply under FSW1 (and I suppose, though, that if you're a driller or a crane operator, you'd probably be fine), right? I think both FSW2 and FSW3 would not be affected (the former not having a cap, and the latter is still only like 35 % filled).

My status finally changed to "In Process" today, 4 days after they charged my credit card :D

With 10 adaptability points, and 16 points for IELTS, you would have at least 76 points (assuming that you only have 1 year of full-time work experience), which was way above the required 67 points. I understand that you get paid through some sort of non-taxable incomes for your RA? If I'm not...

HIV positive in Elisa test but negative in western blot

I'm not an expert, but I know that, at least for Herpes, Western Blot would be the most accurate (its results should be taken over Elisa or HerpeSelect). I think it should be the same for HIV as well. As cocknbull said, negative Western Blot would mean that your positive ELISA is false positive...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

That is great news!! At least they considered your 3.5 years of RA/TA to be at least continuous one year of work experience. Thanks for sharing this with us, AF___. If you don't mind probably sharing a little more, what was the total number of hours per week that you claimed? Was it 20 hours a...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

It does look like that it will take a bit longer for applications with only TA/RA experience to process. Looking at the time-line though, either you or s.guo82 should be expecting a PER any day, which, if you will get it, will confirm that TA/RA experience does count for immigration purposes...

Applicant from PhD program after 5 Nov, 2011 connect here to get status

All eyes (at least mine) will be on you and s.guo82, since, according to the timeline, any of you should expect to get PER soon. Hopefully we will get some news really soon. It does look like that the RA/TA only applicantions take longer to process. Anyway, what other work experience did you...

Ya, it is something similar to that. Do note though, that the HR letter will NOT contain any information regarding your responsibilities and duties, so in my letter from supervisor, I had him also include teaching assistant responsibilities. Remember to include only the research part of your...
