    Processing Time of P.R Card

Congratulations! Did you have to go to the local immigration center to pick it up? Just wanted to make sure the page I got at the port of entry was bogus. If the mail came in your home, did anybody have to sign for the letter and did they check the ID of the person who was signing? Thanks for...

ONLY - Who submitted CIC-AINP(SRS-U.S. Visa Holder Category) application

You get to choose on the paper, what they would not follow the rule. By default you are supposed to send to Buffalo, if you are living in the US or you have a choice to send it to your home country or the visa post that takes care of the applicants from your home country. On the paper (when I...

It sounds like the AINP or whatever PNP process you are going through has asked for more documents before it nominates you. Nomintation and Passport Request are two different things. Unless you provide more info, it is hard to answer your question.

narsanna, I do not think you need a PCC from Toronto. I think you need one from RCMP and that should do it. Only the US states ones are mandatory as far as I know. As you have experienced both Canada and the USA, I have a question for you. If you have choices to live in both countries (PR and...

School for a kid with low English skills

Suin, Don't worry too much. Kids learn very fast. Even though he may not be interested on learning English at this point, but when he gets to Canada and none of the other kids speak his language, he will start learning English very fast. That's the only way he can communicate with them, play...

Drive own car Or rent one while landing?

J1Visa, Sorry to hear what happened to your case. Yes, it takes about 10 hours from Salt Lake City, UT to Coutts, AB. But to get to Calgary and Edmonton, it takes much longer. Driving your own car or rental car seems to be the only option for you to get to Canada as you do not have PR card. I...

    Processing Time of P.R Card

I am surprised that nobody received that page. It seems a generic page given to everybody at the port of entry. I have posted the both sides of that document on my blog (see below), if you want to see it.

    Processing Time of P.R Card

I landed on Nov 15 and provided a friend's address in Calgary at the port of entry (Coutts). I was given a page with a bunch of information on it at the port of entry and one of them was regarding PR card mailing. "The card will be sent to the Immigration Centre closest to your residence and...

CCH is right! No fees for Alberta health insurance. You can apply for Health cards as soon as you get there, but you need a proof of address with your name on it. You get this by opening a bank account first and asking to print a page with your Alberta address showing on it. No fees for SIN...

Come to Canada quick through the SINP

Thanks Vince for your time and reply. I was in Alberta two weeks ago and I am already back in the US. I loved it up there. I am looking to buy some farm land too. I am looking to invest about US$20,000-30,000 and hoping to buy somewhere 50 to 100 acres. I checked a few properties online and I...

As far as I know, there are two fees: 1. Application fee that you send to Buffalo or another visa post along with your original application and 2. Right of permanent resident fee (RPRF) that must be paid before they put PR visa in your passport. This is normally paid once the positive decision...

As people have landed on in another provinces without any issues, you should land near Detroit and come back into the US using the same route, of course from the US side of the port of entry. OR you can land through one of the Alberta Port of Entries and when coming back into the US, use one of...

Karl, I am on the very final stage of the US GC process. However, you do not have to have I-485 approved to be able to get AP and EAD. If I-485 gets approved, that means you already have the US greencard. My I-140 and I-485 were filled concurrently. When you get eligible to apply for I-485, you...

Well, the custom lady had not seen my passport when she asked me that question. She was looking at my goods to follow list and I think there is no place to write the citizenship. I also had my kids US passports along with my passport in my hand and she may have seen the US passport and hence...

The address was from Alberta (Calgary), but my COPR document says I am going to be living in Lethbridge, AB. The US immigration experience will post soon. It is nothing to worry about though. It just took longer than I thought and as long as you have all the necessay documents, they will let you...
