What does Approval in Principle signify? I know it means you are eligible to apply for PR under spousal sponsorship. Does it mean that they have analyzed your relationship and it seems genuine?

OWP comes within 3-4 months of applying. Sponsor Approval SA comes later in the application process like after 5-6 months or so in inland applications. OWP in most cases comes before SA. So, don't worry about that. Work permit is for 2 years or till the passport expires or whatever cones first...

I think you can start your application even if you are not in Canada. Canadian citizens need not to be in Canada to sponsor spouse. You might like to check it out.

I think he applied in Jan 2018. Got SA in Oct 2018 and file was transferred to Etobicoke after that.

Yea but you never know what will happen with file. Its scary to see people from Jan 2018 still waiting.

I am sorry to hear this Cindy. You should consult Immigration lawyer. They know stuff that we don't even have idea about. They are there to bring people out of such situations. No harm in consulting an immigration lawyer. In Toronto downtown there are many lawyers who are really good. .

I selected OWP but it still shows application for visitor visa in the end.

I applied for PR and OWP under inland spousal sponsorship in August 2018. My passport was expiring in 21 June 2019. So, got OWP and visitor visa till 21 June 2019. I got a new passport in February 2019. I was hopeful to get PR result by 21 June 2019. But, haven't heard anything after spousal...
