Is the CIC's Residence Calculator generating the wrong number of days?

Right, I guess my question is how is the difference between the two modes of calculations justified?

Is the CIC's Residence Calculator generating the wrong number of days?

Hi all, sorry if this has been discussed before, but something just occurred to me. When I filled out the details in the residence calculator on the CIC website, for every trip, I listed the day on which I left Canada and the day on which I returned. Take a short business trip for example...

    Citizenship test results, Edmonton Office

LOL, that's probably very wise. I am at the point where I no longer care about that. I also wonder why the hell they want people's health care claims history. I know that many, if not most, men are like me, go to see a doctor only if they lose a limb or are about to die. Plus, it takes...

    Citizenship test results, Edmonton Office

An update from me. My test was today, it was ridiculously easy. My first interview took about 20 minutes. I had several US entry stamps from day trips which I suspected would be an issue, and they were. I was then interviewed for some 30 minutes by another person who went over my travel in...

CIC - Speak to Supervisor of Managerial Level

It looks like you have unrealistic expectations with respect to what the agents can actually do and the scope of information available to them. 95% of the CIC call centre agents I've spoken to have been absolutely great to deal with, which is kind of surprising because they are, after all...

Edmonton September 2012 - April 2013 Citizenship Applications

Thanks, outlawtorn. In my case it is just three days shy of 25 months, and that's with the extra "reminder" that was sent to the local office. I hope that's not a bad sign for those who applied after I did. As to what can be done - probably nothing. Edmonton had been without a...

Edmonton September 2012 - April 2013 Citizenship Applications

My test is tomorrow. In mid-August, which marked 24 months since I had applied, the CIC call centre sent an inquiry to the local office. I think that caused them to act. Within a week, my expired security/background checks got renewed, and soon thereafter my test was scheduled.

Edmonton September 2012 - April 2013 Citizenship Applications

I applied August 14 2012, in process March 15, 2013, transferred to Edmonton mid September, 2013. Routine application, no test date yet. Call centre agent sent an inquiry to the local office on the 24 month anniversary of my applying. Judging from Nick's timeline, there is no rhyme or reason...

Is there a way to contact directly local office?

The agents at the CIC call centre can give you a fax number for your local office.

    Citizenship statistics

Earlier in the year, CIC was issuing press releases left and right, boasting about how many people were sworn in across Canada. In the first three months, there were over 75,000 new Canadians. It then took almost 2 more months (last week of May) to reach 100,000. Since then, the press...

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

I don't want that to become a statutory requirement, so no, it doesn't piss me off. I've no idea why you thought it would, except that you seem to be projecting. There absolutely is such a thing as Canadian values. No one is saying that everyone has to share them, or that they all need to...

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

Back when Canadian immigration policy still made sense, and perhaps even today, coming here on a student visa was in many ways the first step towards becoming a Canadian permanent resident and, in time, citizen. Then came the three-year open post-graduation work permit and the Canadian...

    Citizenship test results, Edmonton Office

Canuto, I thought it was a little strange that they would be mailing out notices on June 13 for a ceremony to be held on July 1. Now that two people have said that they've already received their oath notices for the July 9 ceremony, and that they were mailed on June 9, I am starting to...

    Citizenship test results, Edmonton Office

LOL, I am at 22 months too, and that's exactly what the call centre agents tell me when I call. I don't believe them. :P

Canuto, were you able to get any indication from her as to why the Edmonton office is so much slower than almost every other one?

Corrupted online system for TRV Application

Well, I am trying 20 times to upload a document. Oh and good luck trying to replace a document. And the error messages keep changing. Typical government incompetence, and typical lack of concern for the "customer".

Corrupted online system for TRV Application

It's not just you, their system is experiencing issues - confirmed by the customer service. I've been at it all day, and was able to upload a few documents. It's hit and miss (5:95 ratio). Frankly, I am concerned that whatever was supposedly uploaded really isn't. It's not giving me an...

Why does Citizenship application takes such a long time to process?

AND the Americans allow you to apply three months early to allow for the processing times, so that you receive your citizenship when you earned it. To answer the OP's question: because this government, the current Minister of Immigration and his predecessor are all a bunch of F'ing assholes.
