For future OCI applicants, original COPR should not be sent by Purolator. You may carry your original COPR along with the copy of COPR if going for in-person application and even then just give the copy of COPR. Only show the original if they ask for it.

Any update on your child's application? Mine changed to "Your application has been acknowledged by competent authorities. It is under consideration." after 30 days from the date of application.

Give some time, its only 1 week. I got my status update after 2 weeks. My surrender is ready for collection since Sep 4. I am waiting for OCI to process so I can pick both up in same visit.

NY GCI is at least responsive and said it will take a min 30 days. I will continue to check and will update on my status. But I am positive you will get response earlier than mine as you applied at least 2 weeks before I did. Fingers crossed.
