But wasn't this agent talking about your specific case, since your security is still in progress? Why would they need to take until January 2017 for those who already have everything passed?

Congrats, you beat me as earliest applicant by 2 days. I thought I was the earliest still waiting. A distinction neither of us want, I'm sure. :(

I'll try, but I've never had much luck/patience waiting forever on the line to get through. My MP has a direct line to CIC that bypasses all the BS.

I am actually PAST the 24 month mark (24 months and 18 days) and all of my security/medical/criminality/eligibility has passed. I more than qualify for requesting a POKE right now. I have asked my MP to call CIC asap and request a POKE.

What is the point of calling CIC? Unless you really want to hear more of the usual evasion, lies, and obfuscation over and over again. That is all we will ever get from them.

Sounds great, but like I said before, I'll believe it only if it happens. I have no reason to believe that CIC will keep their word on this or anything else.

In my industry, employers are awarded a huge tax incentive (something like 40%) for hiring Canadian citizens or permanent residents. But they get nothing for hiring those with open work permits. So they always express interest in hiring me until they find out I don't have PR, then they go silent.
