No lawyer or immigration consultant since we felt our case was pretty straight forward as she also comes from a country with no visa required for travelling here. I guess it depends if a case is complicated and may require more paper work.

I got an email at the same address I used for paying the fees (same as the one in the file too). We received a real letter at our address for my sponsored wife with her client ID.

Hello, I am the sponsor and canadian born citizen and I indeed got a client ID. We both have ours and can log on ecas website since feb 2012. We filed our application on dec 2nd so maybe it has something to do with when the application was sent, if they changed the way files are handled.

Hey my wife just smiled reading your post and suddenly we feel less alone in our situation :) We went with Canada Post registered mail and we got a delivery proof and signature of the person who got it at Vegreville. cheers
