Yes, you are right.. thats what I have in mind.. go to the Indian embassy and just apply and what certificate they give me just give that to CIC. However does the fact that my wife has lived in multiple addresses in the same city matter or cause any confusion?

Thats a good question, I dont think the "entire" amount should be present all through the 6 months but once you submit your application it would be advisable to have that in your account... the process alone might take 6 months so in variability you might end up having it for 6 months!
